Position: Education Associate
Location: NYC
Overview:
The Education Associate, working in cooperation with the Education Program team, helps organize, develop and administer programs and websites for families and K-12 teachers and students.
- Help with development, administration and promotion of materials on About Japan: A Teacher’s Resource website for K-12 educators.
- Contribute to the development and operation of the Going Global social networking project and Junior Fellows high school exchange program.
- Assist with and participate in Education and Family Programs’ on and off-site programs, including weekends
- Maintain and produce reports on Program budgets and grants
- Coordinate on-site program scheduling as well as logistical arrangements for speakers, presenters and conference participants
- Work with New York City’s Department of Education on professional development courses
- Maintain database and mailing lists for promotional purposes
- Duties as needed for the Programs success
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree and a minimum of one to two years related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of Japan and an interest in K-12 education are required.
- High level of ability to organize, control and report on budgets and grant reports.
- Effective communicator in both written and spoken English. Fluency in Japanese a plus.
- Proven organizational and administrative skills.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of WordPress and HTML a plus.
- Ability to travel and work on weekends.
