Position: Convention Manager

Salary: 3,650 USD per month (Gross)
Overview:
Convention Manager is responsible for promoting Japan as a business, event and convention destination to the North American convention market. The position is subject to a three-month probation period. The candidate’s skill and ability will be assessed during this time. The employment to the full-time position will be decided upon the end of the probation period. Notwithstanding, employment is at will and either party may terminate employment at any time upon two weeks’ notice.
Requirements:
- Job Requirements:
- Business English fluency
- Experience in sales and marketing
- General knowledge of Japan’s geography and culture
- Ability to multi-task
- Negotiation and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Primary computer skills such as proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point, and current online tools and social media (File maker Skill preferred)
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Experience in MICE and/or hospitality or tourism industry preferred
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Detail-oriented and organized work style, ability to meet deadlines
- Japanese fluency preferred
- Ability to problem-solve and utilize resources effectively
- Self-motivated, flexible and creative
- Ability to identify priorities, ask the right questions and anticipate problems before they arise
