Position: Program Assistant
Location: Durham, NC
Type: Full-time

Overview:

The Program Assistant position provides a wide range of logistical and administrative support to the MIDP.   The MIDP is a non-traditional graduate program.  It enrolls a student body of about 45 per year that is 90% international, comprised mostly of mid-career professionals from non-western cultures.  As such, a high level of sensitivity to cultural differences, excellent communication skills, and sensitivity to issues facing students (and families) from other countries are essential.  This position collaborates with colleagues across the Sanford School and reports to the MIDP.

Requirements:

  • Work requires a broad knowledge of clerical and accounting principles and practices normally acquired through two years of post-secondary education in secretarial science or a related business field.
  • Work generally requires three years of related secretarial/clerical experience to acquire skills necessary to administer complex office functions related to office management, communications, and budgetary/accounting activities.
  • Experience in an international setting with strong cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously with frequent interruptions
  • A self-starter, who follows through on details, and who works and communicates well in a team environment.
  • Friendly customer service orientation. Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office products as well databases and social media. Experience with Qualtrics, 25Live, HTML, and online travel and reimbursement preferred.
  • Experience in program administration or in positions involving academic, instructional or programming activities preferred.
  • Experience with international administration or special events coordination preferred.
  • Successful candidate must be available to work some weekends and evenings throughout the year.
