Overview:
As a member of the College of the Liberal Arts career enrichment team, the Global Experiences Coordinator is a key contributor to the Network’s efforts to increase and support Liberal Arts students’ participation in a range of international experiences. The Coordinator will work with the Network team to provide overall career information and advice, including resume reviews and individual student meetings.
In addition, the Coordinator will focus specifically on those areas related to global experiences, including but not limited to: assisting with creating new global programs and developing strategies to promote global experience within the College in cooperation with the program director and associate dean for undergraduate and graduate education; assessing current international students’ needs and collaborating with University and College colleagues to develop programming to assist with students’ transition to Penn State; advising the Cross-Cultural Communications student organization; serving as coordinator for the College’s key international program offerings; serving as liaison to the University Office of Global Programs; coordinating the promotion (i.e., development of print and electronic materials, event planning, etc.) of global experiences, including study abroad and international internships, to Liberal Arts majors; reviewing study abroad applications; collaborating with Liberal Arts faculty interested in developing new programs or international agreements. Typically requires a Master’s degree or higher or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate will have experience working with undergraduate students, preferably in an international programs or career services related capacity, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and will bring a team orientation to this dynamic position. Knowledge of Data Warehouse, Symplicity Career Services Management (CSM), StudioAbroad, or other database experience desired. Familiarity with Mandarin Chinese would be a plus, but is not a requirement. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
