Position: Coordinator, Office of Study Abroad Position

Overview:
The position is responsible for coordinating all aspects of education abroad, including university risk management, promotion of study abroad programming, advising students of study abroad opportunities, as well facilitating all study abroad programs. The objective of this position is to encourage globalization on campus by expanding students’ academic opportunities in study abroad/exchange programs at universities overseas.
Job Duties:
1. Assist students in determining their best abroad options and counsel students through the application process. Options include faculty-led programs, Cooperative Center for Study Abroad (CCSA) courses, direct exchange, and program provider companies.
2. Maintains relations with international offices in partner schools. Good communication between universities ensures exchange students (incoming and outgoing) have the best possible experience.
3. Works with faculty to develop summer study abroad programs in various disciplines and in various locations.
4. Promotes the study abroad program through public relations and marketing opportunities.
5. Maintains risk management software for students and faculty traveling abroad.
6. Communicates immigration information to newly admitted international students and MSU campus departments.
7. Serves as Designated Official liaison to U.s. Citizen and Immigration Services in all related F-1 students) and alternate Responsible Officer (liaison to the Department of State in all things related to J-1 exchange visitors).
8. Initiates immigration process for all admitted international F-1 and J-1 students by issuing initial I-20 forms and DS-2019 forms.
9. Performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in the area of International Relations, Student Affairs in Higher Education Administration, or related field.
AND
Two (2) years of work experience in public education delivery, preferably in a higher education setting.
** Masters degree preferred**
