Position: Consultant
Posted by: Boyd & Moore Executive Search
Type: N/A
Location: Tokyo
Salary: N/A
Start Date: N/A
Overview:
So you’ve come to Japan via the JET program and you’re ready to move on from teaching, now what?
Your JET experience should have helped develop in you certain skills that are readily transferable to a variety of different careers. Your time management, cultural awareness, and communicative abilities (verbal and non-verbal) are only a few examples that immediately stand out. The main draw-back is that you have not been working in an office (business) environment and many employers are hesitant to take a chance on your cultural fit or ramp-up time at their organizations. This generally means that (1) they do not understand how your JET experience could benefit them and (2) they may not have an effective training program. When you consider a number of the organizations who are interested in hiring JET veterans, you will also notice that the pay is not all that great.
At Boyd & Moore Executive Search (BMES), we understand the potential that JET instills in many of its members and we are happy to potentially provide you with a chance at that next career step that would enable you to remain in Japan and move your career focus back to business. Not many companies or career fields will offer you the opportunity to grow your yearly income to 6, 8, 10 million Japanese Yen in under three years like a role in executive search at BMES will. In addition, search consultants gain an in-depth understanding of business from both a hands-on and a topographical point of view – where you understand how a variety of different types of firms interact to provide great services and products.
Your first three months on the job will be spent training to get you up to speed in your focus industry while also building your recruiting understanding and abilities. You will participate in live searches and all of your work will be geared toward actual service delivery. Your colleagues come from a variety of different countries and cultures but all share a common goal of cohesive forward momentum (i.e. they want you to succeed along with them so they will enthusiastically contribute to your training and understanding of the job). Training continues throughout your time with us as we believe in constant learning and development of both our members and our organizational processes/methodologies.
Finally, Boyd & Moore do not hire Associate Consultants (i.e. support members who work under full Consultants carrying much of the administrative burden). Once you have completed your initial training, you will be a full Consultant working on your own portfolio of clients and roles. Your team members will continue to be there with you sharing market information and contributing to a synergy for success.
