Overview:
The GenNET Interactive Television (ITV) teacher is responsible for teaching in the assigned area and implements instructional activities for students through the use of interactive video, computers and other instructional technology available in the distance learning environment. Responsible for following established curriculum outcomes and adopting instructional delivery strategies to teach in the assigned area.
Essential Duties:
1. Demonstrates proficiency in the use of interactive video equipment, computers and other technology to deliver the curriculum objectives and
course content in the assigned area. Instruction is within a live, two-way interactive television system and is delivered by the instructor
from a Genesee County school.
2. Demonstrates competence in the implementation of a variety of instructional delivery strategies to meet the needs of the students in a live, two-
way interactive television environment.
3. Maintains accurate attendance records and progress reports in accordance with established GenNET guidelines.
4. Communicates with students, parents and instructional support staff at each of the participating sites in accordance with established GenNET
guidelines.
5. Must be highly qualified delivering Japanese instruction to students at levels I & II.
6. Participates in monthly meetings and related staff development and training programs.
7. Establishes a positive learning community, meets individual learning styles and ensures participation of all students in the distance learning
environment.
8. Follows GenNET policies and procedures.
Other Duties:
1. Follows host district and participating site district board policies and administrative guidelines/procedures.
2. May travel between the host site and the remote sites to meet with students, parents and instructional support staff.
3. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required. Valid Michigan teacher certificate in secondary education required. Endorsement in the subject area assignment required and documentation of having passed the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) in the assigned area required.
Experience:
Experience teaching in a distance learning environment preferred.
Skills/Other:
Demonstrated ability to utilize the GenNET instructional technology to successfully teach and deliver instructional outcomes to students in an interactive environment. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated mental/physical ability and stamina for meeting the essential duties of the position and the ability to travel to and from the intermediate school district and remote sites as needed. Punctuality and good attendance are requirements for the position. Ability to make decisions in accordance with board policies and procedures with minimum supervision.
