Overview:
Asia Society, a prestigious, global, educational and cultural non-profit seeks a Grant Writer and Manager – Education. This position is an integral member of the Asia Society’s External Affairs Office and works with the Director of Institutional Relations & Program Support on all fundraising activities regarding grants from foundations and government agencies for Asia Society’s education department. RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Work closely with the Corporate and Individual Giving branches of External Affairs, and collaborate with Education program staff to research and understand the financial needs of the institution and of the education programs; communicate grant opportunities and develop ideas for grant submissions;
•Prospecting: Research and identify new national, regional and local foundation and government prospects to plan strategies to approach them;
•Writing: Support the education department in writing and preparing proposals, budgets and applications for support from foundations and government agencies;
•Stewardship and Reporting:
•Provide stewardship of grants received by the Society in close collaboration with education departments and staff, and the Finance Department including supporting the reporting process;
•Track in Raiser’s Edge all grant prospects, contact information, submission deadlines, and awards;
•Write acknowledgement letters in a timely manner;
•Working with the education department, organize and participate in site visits to education events, schools, and other opportunities by grant makers as necessary;
•Produce, in a timely fashion, the briefing materials and proposals necessary for such visits;
•Meet such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Director of Institutional Relations & Program Support and the Executive Director, Global Corporate and Institutional Relations;
•Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
•Undergraduate degree required; graduate degree preferred
•4-5 years fundraising experience required including proposal writing, prospect identification, grant budgets and research; knowledge of education funding field preferred
•Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills required
•Must be interested in working with a high-performing, fast-paced program team; able to grapple with complex educational issues and be comfortable working collaboratively online with a geographically dispersed team
•Experience with government grants and other online grant application forms preferred;
•An understanding of, and an ability to articulate, institutional accomplishments and goals;
•Ability to undertake multiple projects and meet regular deadlines;
•Knowledge of Asia, arts and culture, and international issues a plus;
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office, knowledge of Raiser’s Edge software and familiarity with prospecting databases (e.g. Foundation Center).
