Overview:
The Institute of International Education in London is a Japanese college in the South East of London, near Greenwich. The college offers several courses in Teaching Japanese as a Foreign Language, Teaching English to Young Learners, IELTS preparation and Japanese as a Foreign Language. The college has an excellent reputation with a number of notable alumni, and links to universities and other institutions across Japan.
We are seeking to appoint a teacher to lead the Teaching English to Young Learners course, with Director Of Studies responsibilities for the English courses which are run here.
Responsibilities will include:
– Taking full charge of the Teaching English to Young Learners course, bringing your own knowledge and experience to the job.
– Organising cultural exchange programmes with local schools
– Fulfilling course administration duties
– Overseeing IELTS courses and maintaining records relevant to the courses
– Managing English teaching staff
– Other ad hoc duties
The successful candidate will have the following qualities:
– Native English speaker
– Degree level education
– A DELTA qualification (or equivalent)
– Extensive experience in teaching English to young Japanese learners
– Knowledge of English lessons in primary schools and eikaiwas in Japan
– Knowledge of the IELTS exam
– Experience working in a Japanese office environment
– Excellent knowledge of the English language
– Sensitivity to cultural difference
The job is to begin in mid-April, with interviews to be undertaken before the end of March.
