GIVE A DAY FOR JAPAN

  • JETAA UK is asking all former JET Programme participants to support relief efforts in Japan by giving a day’s pay to the Japan Society fund.
  • The Japan Society Tohoku Earthquake Relief Fund link will channel all donations received to the ongoing work of voluntary and community organisations (NPOs) working in the most affected prefectures.
  • For more details, click ‘Read More’

Once the emergency relief work of the Japanese government, the Japan Red Cross and other national and international relief agencies has finished, and the basic physical needs of the victims of the disaster have been met, there will be an immense amount of work to be done to rebuild lives and livelihoods.

We believe that grassroots organisations, working with their local stakeholders, are best equipped to deliver long-term support. The Japan Society will work with representatives and support networks of local NPOs to ensure that funds raised are allocated effectively and with other intermediary voluntary organisations to support their capacity to deliver their agreed programmes.

Donations can be made via the Japan Society website or by phone. Don’t forget to write in the comment box that you are a member of JETAA or to mention this on the phone.

Visit the Japan Society page to GIVE A DAY: http://www.japansociety.org.uk/earthquake/

Make sure you share our Facebook invite and our mailshot with as many ex-JETs as possible! And if you’re on Twitter, retweet us: @jetaalondon.

For those of you in London, the Japan Society is also looking for volunteers to help collect donations. If you would like to volunteer your time please email hiroko.kimura@japansociety.org.uk.

Whether you volunteer A DAY of your money or A DAY your efforts, it will be a good day’s work for Japan.
