Job: Executive Assistant at Australian Embassay (Tokyo)

The Executive section of the Australian Embassy is seeking an Australian citizen who is highly motivated and has proven experience as an Executive Assistant. The position is for a period of 6 to 9 months, starting immediately.

*A high level of proficiency in Japanese language is a requirement for this position.*

Job details:

  • Basic salary: 416,500 yen per month (full time)
  • Pension: EPI (Kosei Nenkin) or SGC (Australian Superannuation Guarantee Contribution)
  • Leave:
    Recreation leave: 1.66 days per month (this is on an accrual basis)
    Personal leave:    1.25 days per month (includes sick leave etc.)
  • Hours:
    Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. w/ lunch break from 12.30pm to 1.30pm.
    Embassy may direct you to work non-standard hours, or overtime from time to time
  • Taxation / Medical Insurance / Social Insurance:
    All are a personal responsibility of staff. The Embassy does not deduct taxation from salaries each month. Staff are expected to submit their own tax returns each year. Medical and social insurance is also a private responsibility. The Embassy will meet EPI (Kosei Nenkin) or Australian Superannuation contribution.
  • Workers’ Compensation:
    The Embassy pays the normal workers’ compensation insurance premiums for all staff.
  • Accommodation/Travel Assistance:
    The Embassy does not offer accommodation or travel assistance with this position nor does the Embassy act as a rental guarantor.
  • Visa:
    You must have an appropriate category visa to work at the Embassy. The Embassy will provide a letter to the Ministry of Justice in Tokyo in confirmation of intended employment. You will be responsible for all the arrangements and costs involved.
  • Probation:
    The first 4 months of this employment contract will be a probation period, during which you will have formal and informal performance review with your supervisor. In case of an unsatisfactory performance review, your employment may be terminated within the probationary period, and you will have no claim for unfair dismissal.
  • Security Vetting:
    Confirmation of Employment is dependent on meeting all of the requirements of security vetting.
