Jobs: School Program Coordinator & Webmaster/Office Manager at the Japanese Embassy (DC)

The Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC), Embassy of Japan, is looking for a School Program Coordinator and a Web Master/Office Manager at the Japanese Embassy in Washington D.C.  Both positions are full-time and require permission to work in the United States.  These positions will open up in mid-July.

SCHOOL PROGRAM COORDINATOR

ROLES:
-Coordinate and present an educational program on Japan and Japanese culture for audiences ranging from
elementary school students to professionals
-Promote the school program and maintain a reservation schedule
-Write reports for each program in Japanese and compile data quarterly
-Head JICC participation in cultural events held at the JICC and off-site locations
-Coordinate and lead JICC participation in the Embassy Adoption Program
-Disseminate information on Japan to the public; respond to public inquiries on Japan
-Assist other JICC staff in the organization and execution of cultural events

QUALIFICATIONS (required):
-Experience living or working in Japan
-Extensive knowledge of Japanese culture
-Strong public speaking skills and experience delivering presentations
-Superior communication skills and interpersonal skills
-Flexibility and resourcefulness; ability to multitask and take initiative
-Bachelor’s degree in related field

QUALIFICATIONS (recommended):
-Experience working with and/or teaching children
-Strong proficiency in Japanese and English
-Strong computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

WEB MASTER / OFFICE MANAGER
ROLES:
-Maintaining and updating the JICC website, including graphic design, content editing, and video editing
-Serving as the point of contact for building management (facilities maintenance, billing processing, and logistical
-Drafting reports, letters and emails for diplomats regarding office management
-Assisting with cultural events
-Organizing and maintaining the JICC Reading Room
-Assisting with computer-related issues
-Disseminating information on Japan to the public; responding to public inquiries on Japan
QUALIFICATIONS (required):
-Strong computer skills
-Experience with web-related programming, Adobe Dreamweaver and Photoshop
-Superior communication and interpersonal skills
-Flexibility and resourcefulness; ability to multitask and take initiative
-Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
QUALIFICATIONS (recommended):
-Understanding of Japanese culture
-Proficiency in Japanese and English
-Experience living or working in Japan
-Experience with Pinnacle Studio Plus
