Job: Translator for Anime Festival

Just saw this on the JETAA DC email list:

We (Japan America Society of Washington, DC) just received a request from Katsucon (one of the organizers of a large Anime Conventions) looking for two Japanese translators during their convention.

The convention is from February 13-15, 2009 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Crystal City.

The translator will communicate between the Japanese talents and the Katsucon staff, as well as translating for the talents during interviews and signings. The translator will need to be on call all weekend, but will have a room in the hotel and Katsucon will provide meals. Katsucon cannot pay, but the organization is a 501 (c) 3 and work can be tax deducted.

I will need to have a commitment now because one of the band’s managers would like to interview the translator to see if their Japanese is good enough.

Please let me know if are interested and I will get you in contact with a Katsucon organizer.
