Description:
We are looking for a Career Development and Graduate Support Coordinator to join our international team to support the Ashinaga Africa Initiative (AAI) Scholars and Graduates. The position has two roles: (1) to support AAI Scholars in navigating their career journey through their university life and (2) to facilitate positive engagement of AAI Graduates. This role also requires collaboration with other team members within AAI department and Ashinaga regional offices (US, UK, France, Brazil, Uganda, and Senegal).

Your duties would entail:
1. Career Development support to the AAI Scholars
Under the overall supervision of the manager,
(1) Develop and implement a process to promote career readiness and professional skills of AAI Scholars, and to monitor its progress
(2) Run coaching sessions for AAI Scholars on how to navigate their career journey through skill and experience acquisition, as well as the development of CVs, Cover Letters, and interview skills.
(3) Design and implement career development workshops for the different professional/career stages by collaborating with other teams
(4) Work with the team members to review, design and implement an internship placement for AAI Scholars through opportunity sourcing and evaluation in Africa and Japan.
(5) Gather and analyze data for monitoring and evaluation purposes.

2. Support Graduates
(1) Check-in with the AAI Graduates as allocated by the Manager to gather information and promote positive engagement
(2) Provide coaching and career support to the Graduates when needed
(3) Organizing and/or supporting Graduates/Alumni events to foster Graduates’ network
(4) Work with the team members to plan and implement activities that foster Graduates’ return to Africa
(5) Promote Graduate’s story both internally and externally to increase recognition of AAI
(6) Work with the team members to collect and analyze Graduates’ data

3. Other areas
(1) Supervise the team intern, together with other staff members.
(2) Prepare and follow-up admin tasks of the team
(3) Other tasks, as deemed necessary by the Manager and AAI director
(4) Collaborate with other teams and regional offices for the overall AAI program.
(5) As an AAI staff at HQ, support other areas of Ashinaga’s work, when necessary, which include Bokin (street fundraising), Tsudoi (summer/spring camps) and Scholarship interview with applicants.
