Thank you to our friends at the American Association of Teachers of Japanese for this Job Posting.
Bates College, a residential liberal arts college in Maine, invites applications for a Japanese Language Learning Associate (LA) starting late August 2024 and ending mid-April 2025. We are looking for a dynamic individual who can work closely with our undergraduate students both inside and outside the classroom, and who will support our small and energetic community of Japanese learners and speakers on campus. The successful candidate will help students at all levels develop language proficiency and gain an understanding of Japanese culture and society. The Learning Associate is expected to work 35 hours per week (inclusive of preparation time). Responsibilities include aiding professors in teaching language courses, running drill sessions, tutoring, and planning and organizing co-curricular and extracurricular activities. In addition to a monthly stipend, the Learning Associate is provided with full room and board, a per diem allowance when the college is on break, and visa fee and travel assistance where appropriate.
