Job Position: Communication & Marketing Manager (Maternity Cover) (London, UK)
Job Details:
Overseas investment bank in the City requires an exceptional individual to join their Corporate Planning/Public Relations team. Fluency in Japanese and English is required for this role.
Main Job Functions & Tasks:
Pro-active and re-active media relations, promoting and protecting the firm’s reputation.
Negotiating and managing advertising positions.
Updating and managing the firm’s intranet.
Managing the firm’s website
Annual report writing, working with design agencies.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
Ad hoc administrative duties.

Media relations:
Responding to journalist enquiries
Writing press releases
Pro-actively promoting the company’s experts to the press (particularly encouraging television, broadsheet and radio contacts to use our economists for comment)
Managing the annual Press Party arrangements
Regularly meeting with journalists (typically three times a week, sometimes post 5pm)
Internal communications:
Maintaining and updating the firm’s intranet on a daily basis
Writing internal communications across a broad range of subjects – ranging from quarterly financial result announcements, charity news and management messaging.
Working with Tokyo PR to write internal newsletters, distributed to employees in overseas locations
Marketing:
Negotiating and managing advertising contracts – primarily within trade media
Updating and maintaining the external website
Working with Finance to produce the firm’s Annual Report
Sourcing and ordering branded goods
CSR – sitting on the firm’s Charity Committee
General duties:
Maintaining external relations with suppliers (ranging from brand suppliers for corporate gifts to design and PR agencies)
Taking minutes for the Executive Committee (on occasion)
Providing admin support to the Head of Department when required, in co-operation with the Assistant Manager
Duties as required by the Department Head – this is a wide ranging role, working within a small team that reports directly to the firm’s President.
Experience and Qualifications:
Experience of working within Financial Services.
Excellent writing skills.
Excellent Communication skills.
Degree educated (ideally English/History/Languages/Geography or Economics from a top University).
Masters in any discipline from a leading university, would be an advantage but not essential.
Professional Marketing qualification also desirable but not essential.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Acrobat Writer and Quark Express knowledge would be a distinct advantage.
Intranet and Internet content management systems experience also desirable.
