Job Position: Visiting Teaching Associate (Japanese) – University Laboratory High School, University of Illinois
Job Details:
Visiting Teaching Associate is a full-time, 9-month, renewable, non-tenure track academic staff appointment at the University of Illinois.
Responsibilities:
Teaching Japanese to academically talented junior high school and/or senior high school students. Presenting at professional conferences or workshops. Directing the Japanese Club. The position also entails school activities normally required of teachers, such as attendance at faculty meetings and supervision of student activities.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Japanese, foreign language education or teaching of Japanese. Evidence of effective and creative teaching experience. Advanced oral proficiency in Japanese.
Desirable Qualifications:
Graduate degree in Japanese, foreign language education or teaching of Japanese. Ability to speak another foreign language fluently. Familiarity with authentic language teaching strategies. Knowledge of internet and multimedia instruction opportunities. Experience in teaching gifted students. Experience in seeking and obtaining educational grants and organizing and conducting workshops for teachers. Native or superior oral proficiency in Japanese. High school level teaching experience in the United States. Teaching certification in Illinois. Travel experience in Japan.
