Earlham College is seeking a Visiting Assistant Professor of Japanese Language and Linguistics to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Department of Languages and Cultures at Earlham College invites applications for a full-time, one-year position at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor of Japanese Language and Linguistics, beginning August 2024.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will teach an intermediate Japanese course (JAPN 201) and a fourth-year Japanese course (JAPN 382) in the Fall 2024 semester.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (Ph.D. preferred) by the time of appointment
  • Demonstrate highly successful skills in teaching Japanese at all levels
  • Specialize in language teaching, linguistics, or related fields with native or near native competency in Japanese and English
  • A strong commitment to teaching Japanese to undergraduates is essential
  • Be a positive example and resource to all Earlham Students
