Overview:

World Internships is comprised of a tight-knit team of enthusiastic and well-traveled young professionals who are passionate about living and working abroad. Our U.S. office is based in Northampton, MA where we work with partners on the ground in eighteen countries around the world to coordinate customized internship programs for students, recent graduates, and pre-professionals of all backgrounds. The part-time Intern Advisor will report directly to WI Director and Program Coordinators and will work in the Intern Advising Center. This job is suited for someone looking to gain practical experience and develop professional skills within a small but dynamic start-up business setting. The position is ideal for an independent, hands-on learner who is interested in gaining professional experience in the field of international education within the context of a growing organization.

The Intern Advisor is responsible for the following:

  • Answer incoming calls from students and young professionals interested in participating in one of our World Internships programs
  • Make outgoing calls to potential interns who have provided a phone number at the time of inquiry
  • Advise inquiries on program selection, answer program specific questions as well as country specific questions, and answer questions concerning the application process and general intern abroad experience via email and phone
  • Maintain call records in database
  • Update inquiry information in database
  • Provide input about the website, database, etc. to the World Internships Director
  • Develop a great understanding of World Internships programs
  • Assist in the management of WI online and social media presence, including website and various online entities

Requirements:

  • Current university student or recent graduate (undergraduate or graduate)
  • Flexible work schedule – able to work at least 10 hours per week in the summer and up to 30 starting in the fall
  • Must have spent time studying, interning or living overseas

Work Environment:

  • Historic building located in the heart of Northampton- right off of Main Street and down the street from Smith College (on bus line)
  • Typical office hours: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, but Intern Advisors may work an evening shift ending at 9:00 pm
  • Fun, interactive, dynamic environment
  • In the heart of the Five College Consortium district (Amherst College, Hampshire College, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, UMass Amherst)
