Type: Part-time


In early 2013, JASSC began a three-year membership campaign thanks to a generous grant from the Japan Foundation Center for Global Partnership, which promotes collaboration between the people of Japan and the US. Year One of the grant funded an online membership survey, a board and membership committee retreat and the expert assistance from senior executives from the Center for Nonprofit Management. The result is a detailed, “Priorities and Strategic Campaign Action Plan”, with the goal of increasing total membership by 50% over the next two years. The Membership Development Coordinator will play a critical role in implementing this plan (The plan will be made available to candidates invited for an in-person interview for the position).   • Requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in working as an administrator, coordinator, membership development, sales and marketing roles in a corporation or non-profit organization
  • Prior experience working with senior level executives, including giving presentations, goal setting and requirements gathering
  • Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the members of JASSC’s board, membership committee and staff
  • Will have strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate people to ensure the achievement of membership development and retention objectives.
  • Must possess good analytical skills and be able to establish high performance standards and meet them. Clearly the candidate must be able to perform at the highest ethical level
  • Must be mature, energetic and enthusiastic and able to meet the challenges of the membership development activities
  • Will be a logical thinker, responsible, honest, stable, be detail oriented and a team player
  • Will also have strong communication skills by phone and email
  • Have strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, PPT and internet search
  • This position requires an under-graduate degree such as business administration or marketing communication major. A graduate degree is not required but helpful.
  • Fluency in Japanese is a strong plus.
