Job Description:
An extremely motivated, friendly, energetic, intelligent, aggressive, and creative individual is sought to guide the marketing and advertising vision of the Nichi Bei Weekly, a new nonprofit Japanese American community newspaper.
Applicant should be driven, have a great attitude, a proven ability to surpass goals, and a desire to be the best. Applicant should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Position includes advertising sales, marketing, advertising maintenance, general office work and business management. May include some invoicing, as well as marketing of the publication at various events and festivals. Applicant will also work on strategic partnerships and sponsorships.
The position will help to drive the overall marketing strategy of an innovative nonprofit publication, which recently went through a major transformation, as well as new projects planned by the Nichi Bei Foundation, the publisher of the Nichi Bei Weekly.
The newspaper’s mission is to keep the community connected, informed and empowered.
The position may include leadership on a number of projects.
Position will be a combination of base salary plus commission.
Job Qualifications:
Knowledge of programs such as Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel and Powerpoint) highly preferred. Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (including Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.) and Quickbooks preferred but not absolutely necessary. Japanese language capability a plus.
