Job: Reporter/Research Assistant at Yomiuri Shimbun (NYC)

The Yomiuri Shimun bureau in New York City is looking for a full-time reporter/research assistant.  The candidate need not speak Japanese, but journalism experience and knowledge of markets/business industry are beneficial.

  • involves assisting Japanese reporters in New York Bureau. Areas of coverage are broad and varied and are likely to include work with Japanese business reporters covering markets and major industries (i.e. finance, tech auto) and economic news.
  • Additional work may include general news coverage as well as assisting sports reporters in research, reporting and obtaining accreditations.
  • Some travel required.
  • Japanese language is not necessary.
  • Some experience on college newspaper or other print publication helpful. Interest in major business news and basic understanding of tech and markets is necessary.
  • Applicant should already live in New York area.
