Job: International Student Exchange Program (ISEP) Program Officer – India, Japan, Korea, Thailand

Job Opening for ISEP Program Officer–India, Japan, Korea, Thailand

Under the general supervision of the Regional Director of Asia Programs, the Program Officer administers student exchanges with and study abroad programs at designated ISEP member institutions in India, Japan, Korea, and Thailand; serves as principal liaison with institutions in these countries; handles all applications to and from institutions in these countries and provides student support services before departure and while students are in the program.

Salary: Mid $30,000’s

Starting Date: December 14, 2009

Qualifications:
. BA degree required, MA degree in relevant subject area preferred.
. Minimum 2 years relevant working experience including study and/or work experience abroad, preferably in Asia.
. Foreign language skills in Japanese or Korean; understanding of the cultures and educational systems of Asian countries and of U.S. higher education.
. Excellent cross-cultural communication skills, ability to handle considerable detail and multi-task, and be a team player as well as work independently.
. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite programs.
. Applicant must have authorization to work in the U.S.

Principal Responsibilities:
. Reviews, develops, and implements student placement procedures.
. Reviews applications from and places students at member universities in the U.S. and abroad; manages all stages of placement process and provides post-placement communication.
. Responds to inquiries from coordinators at member institutions regarding content and appropriateness of programs and availability of spaces.
. Reviews descriptions of programs and services provided by designated international institutions.
. Maintains study support services during and following exchange period and handles crisis situations.
. Reviews program evaluations and implements appropriate follow-up activity
. Reviews and contributes to ISEP publications and marketing.

. Plans, organizes, and carries out special projects as assigned, such as program development efforts, site visits, study abroad fairs, participation in professional conferences, and travel.
