Description: Adjunct Lecturer Position Announcement – Spring 2024 – Japanese Pre-Modern History Course
The Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE), a US-based non-profit organization, is seeking adjunct lecturing staff to deliver an academic course on Japanese Pre-Modern History, at its center in Kyoto.
The short-term, intensive course includes 45 contact hours during the period listed above. Two offsite, instructor-led co-curricular activities will be scheduled during class time.
Students will be undergraduates from universities in the United States. Courses will be taught in-person at our downtown center in Kyoto.

*Applicants residing within commuting distance of Kyoto will be prioritized.
Expected Dates: Feb 15 to March 21, 2024 (Mon, Tues, Thurs from 1:00 -3:30pm)
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s in relevant field
- Teaching, tutoring, or TA experience.
- Ability to connect with undergraduates from American institutions.
- Proficiency in English.
- Valid work visa to teach university-level courses in Japan.
Desired Qualifications:
- PhD in relevant field
- Published scholarship in relevant fields.
- Experience using a learning management system (LMS).
- Strong record of teaching excellence.
What you bring to CIEE:
- Passion for education and an appreciation of education as an instrument to connect cultures.
- Significant teaching experience in the relevant area with proven positive student outcomes and experience.
- Postgraduate qualifications in the relevant area.
- Industry experience in the relevant area where applicable.
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals and/or professional publications in the relevant area (desirable but not essential).
- Experience using a learning management system (LMS). (desirable)
