Our client is a large international Japanese company seeking an Assistant Controller with a strong manufacturing/operations background to join our client’s plant accounting and finance leadership team. The candidate we are seeking will possess demonstrated cost accounting experience and knowledge. This position reports to the Plant Controller and is based in Savannah, Georgia.
The ideal candidate will have Japanese language skills and cultural knowledge along with the required accounting experience gained in a multi-cultural environment with excellent verbal and written communication skills honed in a team setting. A robust work ethic is required coupled with the organizational and time management skills necessary to manage multiple projects and activities within a deadline driven atmosphere. Candidate must also have strong analytical, math, problem solving and decision-making skills.
Responsibilities
-Analyze production statistics, cost variances, preparation of supporting analysis reports, monthly review, cost improvement, preparation of annual plant budget, and financial forecasting.
-Assist and provide leadership and guidance in the management of working capital, inventory and production planning while leading from an accounting/financial perspective.
-Assist with the establishment and maintenance of cost standards and variance tracking for labor and materials.
-Prepare capital spending benefit analysis and review in process capital project spending.
-Participate in the preparation of cost estimates for new products and product modifications.
-Maintaining cost accounting systems and cost ledgers.
-Analyzing inventory valuations.
-Performing life cycle cost-benefit analysis.
-Assist with month-end close.
Requirements
-Eight (8) plus years related experience required.
-Japanese language skills and knowledge of Japanese culture.
-Demonstrated experience and detailed knowledge of cost accounting principles.
-Knowledge of manufacturing/packaging/distribution processes.
-International operations knowledge and experience a plus.
-Able to apply, interpret and utilize General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
-Ability to prepare detailed financial reports and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of customers and/or employees.
-Past experience in the service center or macro maintenance industries, or with construction/cost accounting in large scale environments or power utilities.
-Experience in materials and/or production planning a plus.
-ERP knowledge and usage required, SAP experience a plus.
-Public Accounting a plus.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required. CPA preferred.
Compensation
Salary and bonus eligibility commensurate with experience.
