{"id":9932,"date":"2009-12-17T15:55:05","date_gmt":"2009-12-17T19:55:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jetwit.com\/wordpress\/?p=9932"},"modified":"2009-12-17T15:55:05","modified_gmt":"2009-12-17T19:55:05","slug":"introducing-the-u-s-japan-creative-artists-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jetwit.com\/wordpress\/2009\/12\/17\/introducing-the-u-s-japan-creative-artists-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Introducing the U.S.\/Japan Creative Artists&#8217; Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Calling all artists &#8211; whether you&#8217;re a photographer, a\u00a0puppeteer, a budding troubadour or manga comic, <strong>The Japan-U.S. Friendship Commission <\/strong>and the<strong> National Endowment for the Arts <\/strong>can fund a five-month residency in Japan, through their <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jusfc.gov\/programguidelines.asp\" target=\"_blank\">U.S.\/Japan Creative Artists&#8217; Program.<\/a><\/strong> Applications are due February 1st. \u00a0Read on for more details:<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the press release:<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Japan-U.S. Friendship Commission<\/strong> works cooperatively with the National Endowment for the Arts to sponsor the <strong>U.S\/Japan Creative Artists&#8217; Program.<\/strong> The program provides support for up to five outstanding contemporary and traditional artists from the United States to spend a five-month residency in Japan to pursue their individual artistic goals.\u00a0<strong>The next deadline for this program is February 1, 2010.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The U.S\/Japan Creative Artists&#8217; Program is extremely competitive; applicants should have regional or national recognition and anticipate a highly rigorous review of their work. \u00a0Artists should also present compelling reasons for wanting to work in Japan.<\/p>\n<p>Selected artists will receive:<br \/>\n\u2022 A monthly stipend for living expenses and a housing supplement, as well as an allowance for professional support services<br \/>\n\u2022 Up to $6,000 for round trip transportation for the artist, domestic partner and\/or dependent children, and a baggage\/storage allowance<br \/>\n\u2022 A stipend for pre-departure Japanese language study in the United States<br \/>\n<em><br \/>\nAdditional information, including guidelines and the application, can be found at <\/em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a title=\"http:\/\/www.jusfc.gov\/creativeartists.asp\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.jusfc.gov\/creativeartists.asp\" target=\"_blank\"><em>http:\/\/www.jusfc.gov\/creativeartists.asp<\/em><\/a><\/span><em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em> <\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Calling all artists &#8211; whether you&#8217;re a photographer, a\u00a0puppeteer, a budding troubadour or manga comic, The Japan-U.S. Friendship Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts can fund a five-month residency in Japan, through their U.S.\/Japan Creative Artists&#8217; Program.
