As a result of its growth, Merlin USA is seeking an experienced proposal\u00a0writer to join its expanding team on a part-time, contract basis. The\u00a0proposal writer will have primary responsibility to write and submit\u00a0letter of inquires and proposals to private and corporate foundations as\u00a0well as assist with research. The ideal person for this position will be\u00a0comfortable juggling multiple writing and editing projects against tight\u00a0deadlines with minimal oversight. The proposal writer will work closely\u00a0with the development team and reports to the Director of Merlin USA.<\/p>\n

Daily Responsibilities Include:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00b7 Prepare high-quality letters of inquiry and grant\u00a0applications focusing on private and corporate foundations.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Write grant proposals and reports, coordinate budgetary and\u00a0program information for grants, monitor the proposal review process, and\u00a0maintain the proposal and report deadline calendar.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Maintain and document funder contacts and proposal\u00a0deadlines.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Assist with programmatic research required for comprehensive\u00a0grant proposals.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Assist with researching foundations and present\u00a0well-reasoned recommendations to build Merlin USA’s base of support.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Other duties as assigned.<\/p>\n

Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00b7 Bachelor’s degree.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 1-2 years experience grant writing and\/or development\u00a0experience with a proven track record in raising funds for nonprofit\u00a0organizations preferred.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Knowledge of grant processes and funding sources for\u00a0international medical relief as well as a sound understanding of\u00a0nonprofit fundraising principles preferred.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Excellent writing and communication skills.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Outstanding organizational skills with strong attention to\u00a0detail.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Self-starter with demonstrated ability to work in a\u00a0fast-paced environment and to produce high-quality work in a timely\u00a0manner under minimum supervision.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs; experience\u00a0with prospect research tools; and familiarity with Salesforce or other\u00a0CRMs<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Understanding of international medical relief or\u00a0international health development is not necessary but preferred.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Sense of humor and good people skills, works well with\u00a0others!<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Must be a US Citizen, permanent resident or hold an\u00a0appropriate valid work visa<\/p>\n
