This exhibit will highlight the works of current and former participants as a way to celebrate Japan and give JET Program participants an outlet for sharing their favorite memories of their time on the JET Program.<\/p>\n<p>The objective of \u201cJapan Through Our Eyes: Photographs by JET Program Participants\u201d is to educate the public about Japan via the eyes of current and former JET participants.<\/p>\n<p>To make this possible, we need YOUR photo submissions! We are now accepting photographs taken in Japan. Full submission guidelines are listed below. Therefore, please keep the following guidelines in mind when you submit your photo and label.<\/p>\n<p>B) NON-DIGITAL SUBMISSIONS<\/p>\n<p>If you do not have digital photos or the ability to scan photos into a computer, you may send in an 8\u201dx10\u201d or larger print directly to JETAA DC.\u00a0 Be sure to include the caption information outlined below. \u00a0Please mail to:<\/p>\n<p>Embassy of Japan<br \/>\nJET Program Office<br \/>\n2520 Massachusetts Avenue, N.W.<br \/>\nWashington, DC 20008<\/p>\n<p>Photos and image files will not be returned.<\/p>\n<p>2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 DEADLINE<\/p>\n<p>Photos and image files must be submitted between July 10, 2009, and September 12, 2009.<\/p>\n<p>3) THEMES<\/p>\n<p>Photos should be in one of the following six categories. We will select one outstanding photo for each theme which will be displayed prominently among the other selected works in its category.<\/p>\n<p>Teaching (ex. classroom, school festival, sports day, sports clubs, etc.)<br \/>\nNature (ex. scenes of the four seasons, etc.)<br \/>\nCulture (ex. holidays, festivals, arts, karaoke, etc.)<br \/>\nUrban (ex. skyscrapers, street views, etc.)<br \/>\nRural (ex. landscapes, traditional culture, agriculture, etc.)<br \/>\nPeople (ex. Harajuku girls, crowds, families, etc.)<\/p>\n<p>4) FORMAT<\/p>\n<p>Digital submissions: Your photo must be a high resolution JPEG (minimum of 640 x 525 pixels in dimensions with at least 300ppi). Your photo should be one that you own and have taken yourself. High-quality scans of non-digital photographs are acceptable.\u00a0 300ppi is required so we can easily enlarge the photos for display.\u00a0 Feel free to e-mail <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"mailto:jetaadc_photos%40yahoo.com\" target=\"_blank\">jetaadc_photos [at] yahoo.com<\/a> if you are having trouble confirming whether or not your photo meets the requirements.<\/p>\n<p>Non-digital submissions: 8\u201dx10\u201d or larger.<\/p>\n<p>5) CAPTIONS<\/p>\n<p>Include caption details to go along with your photo. Enter your caption as the \u201cdescription\u201d for your photo on Flickr.\u00a0 Your caption should include the following:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Title of photo<br \/>\n\u00a7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Location of photo (city, prefecture)<br \/>\n\u00a7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Your Name<br \/>\n\u00a7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Prefecture where you participated on the JET Program<br \/>\n\u00a7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Years on the JET Program (ie. 2000-2002)<br \/>\n\u00a7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Theme (Teaching, Nature, Culture, Urban, Rural, or People)<\/p>\n<p>++++++++++++ +++++++++ +++++++++ +++++++++ +++++++++ +++++++++ ++++<\/p>\n<p>Rules<\/p>\n<p>Terms and Conditions<\/p>\n<p>1.You agree that you took the photo.<\/p>\n<p>2.By participating in this call for entries, you give permission to JETAA DC to use, display, distribute, reproduce, and create derivative works of the story and photos, in whole or in part, in any media now existing or subsequently developed, for any JETAA DC purpose.<\/p>\n<p>3.This permission covers use of the label and photos for advertising and promotion of the JETAA DC \u201cJapan Through Our Eyes: Photographs by JET Program Participants\u201d exhibit, and related websites, exhibition uses, and commercial products, including but not limited to JETAA DC publications.<\/p>\n<p>4.JETAA DC will not make any payments or seek additional approval in connection with these uses.\u00a0 Additionally, submissions will not be used for commercial or profit-making purposes.<\/p>\n<p>5.You grant permission to JETAA DC to use your full name, if provided, in connection with the use, reproduction, publication and posting of the label, story, and photo you provide.<\/p>\n<p>6.Any personal information of entrants will only be used and, where necessary, disclosed to third parties, for the purposes of running the JETAA DC \u201cJapan Through Our Eyes: Photographs by JET Program Participants\u201d exhibit and JETAA DC website.<\/p>\n<p>7.JETAA DC will only accept submissions from former JET participants living in the DC metro area or current JET participants from DC<\/p>\n<p>8.Only photos submitted through Flickr, postal mail, or email will be accepted.<\/p>\n<p>9.You agree to hold harmless JETAA DC, its board, officers, and Embassy of Japan employees from any claims arising from the use, publication and posting of your label, story, or photo submission.<\/p>\n<p>10.JETAA DC reserves the right to suspend the \u201cJapan Through Our Eyes: Photographs by JET Program Participants\u201d exhibit if deemed necessary at any time.<\/p>\n<p>11. Please limit your submission to 3 images.<\/p>\n<p>12. The selection committee comprises of representatives from JETAA DC, JICC, CEPEX, and the JET Program office at the Embassy of Japan. The exhibit will be judged using a points system. One winner will be selected from each of the six themes. The selection committee\u2019s decision is final.<\/p>\n<p>13.
