{"id":6979,"date":"2009-06-18T14:28:24","date_gmt":"2009-06-18T18:28:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jetwit.com\/wordpress\/?p=6979"},"modified":"2009-06-19T13:15:33","modified_gmt":"2009-06-19T17:15:33","slug":"jetwit-blog-beat-new-blogs-to-check-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jetwit.com\/wordpress\/2009\/06\/18\/jetwit-blog-beat-new-blogs-to-check-out\/","title":{"rendered":"JetWit Blog Beat &#8211; New blogs to check out!"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><em><a href=\"https:\/\/jetwit.com\/wordpress\/category\/jetwit-blog-beat\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>JetWit Blog Beat<\/strong><\/a> <em>is a recurring item featuring posts from the blogs of various JET alumni.\u00a0 Guest <\/em>poster <strong>Kelly Nixon<\/strong> (<strong>Iwate<\/strong>, 2003-06)\u00a0currently\u00a0works\u00a0in Administration\u00a0for Japan Airlines\u00a0and serves as Treasurer for the JET Alumni Association of\u00a0New York.<\/em><\/div>\n<div>Since\u00a0this is my\u00a0first time posting for the JetWit Blog Beat it seems appropriate to introduce both myself as well as a lot of great new JET blogs at the same time.<\/div>\n<p>Hello!\u00a0 I&#8217;m Kelly &#8211; RSS feed fiend and fellow former Iwate ALT (indeed, just like the Blog Beat&#8217;s own <a href=\"http:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/crystalw\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Crystal Wong<\/strong><\/a>!).\u00a0\u00a0Fret not, Crystal has not forsaken the JET blogosphere.\u00a0 There are just so many blogs to keep up with that I have offered\u00a0to lend her a hand on occasion.<\/p>\n<p>Now to get on to the goods &#8211; more new blogs than you can shake a stick at!<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">* A\u00a0favorite blog of mine and one that I\u00a0personally recommended\u00a0for the blog roll is <a href=\"http:\/\/japandra.blogspot.com\/  \" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Japandra<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 This little treasure-trove of a blog is brought to you by <strong>Sandra<\/strong>, a NY expat and JET alum currently living in Tokyo, who has keen eye for those little irregular hilarities which sneak into the Japanese landscape.\u00a0 What are you waiting for?\u00a0 That fuzzy <em>natsukashii<\/em> &#8220;Haha, only in Japan!&#8221; feeling is just a <a href=\"http:\/\/japandra.blogspot.com\/  \" target=\"_blank\">click<\/a> away&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">* <strong>Sean Sakamoto<\/strong> of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.idratherbe.tv\/injapan\/\" target=\"_blank\">I&#8217;d Rather Be in Japan<\/a> <\/strong>lives it up in the wild and wondrous beauty of Gifu.\u00a0 In one of his most recent posts he brings the forest to us in an excellent home-made video series on how to harvest, prepare, and enjoy eating&#8230;bamboo!<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">* Next up is <a href=\" http:\/\/jasoninjapan.blogspot.com\/\"><strong>Jason&#8217;s Adventures in Rural Japan<\/strong><\/a> (aka Shimane).\u00a0 Although Jason is currently packing up to return to the U.S.,\u00a0his blog is a great place to peruse his selection of\u00a0the past year&#8217;s <em>omoshiroi<\/em> Japanese YouTube videos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">* Are you a prospective JET itching to find more information about the JET teaching experience in rural areas?\u00a0 If so (or even if not!), check out <a href=\"http:\/\/melt-in-japan.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Mel&#8217;s Adventures in Japan<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">* Take some time to enjoy the comedic writing style of <strong>Steve Rogers<\/strong>, a lover of all things list-worthy (he even writes lists&#8230; about lists!), who does very well keeping his sense of humor while enduring <a href=\"http:\/\/ntexposure.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Northern Tohoku Exposure<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">* <strong>D.
