The Legislative Reference Bureau (LRB) is a non-partisan legislative support services agency of the Illinois General Assembly with primary responsibility for providing assistance to General Assembly members in the preparation of bills, amendments, resolutions, and other legislative documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Persons who serve in editorial and drafting positions with the Resolution Team of the LRB predominantly focus on the preparation and review of resolutions, which may be congratulatory or memorial in nature or may address specific substantive concerns of General Assembly members. However, an Editor\/Drafter also performs other duties, including providing proofreading and writing support for attorney groups as needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

In addition to a strong working knowledge of grammar and punctuation and an interest in the writing process, an applicant must have the ability to work well with a wide variety of people and the maturity to fulfill the trust imposed by the legislature on the LRB, including the obligation to maintain client requests in complete confidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with extended hours when the General Assembly is in session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minimum Qualifications:
<\/strong>\u2022 Bachelor\u2019s degree;
\u2022 Strong written and verbal communication skills;
\u2022 Ability to work responsibly with minimal supervision; and
\u2022 Availability to work overtime on evenings and weekends, as required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Compensation:
<\/strong>\u2022 Minimum starting salary is $45,000 per year;
\u2022 Overtime or compensatory time, as authorized and earned;
\u2022 Health, dental, vision, prescription drug, behavioral health, and life insurance;
\u2022 Participation in State Employees\u2019 Retirement System; and
\u2022 Competitive vacation, sick, and personal time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
