The Consulate General of Japan in New York is currently seeking a Social Media Assistant to assist with social media postings and the organization of Japanese cultural events.

This is a CONTRACT POSITION that will run from September 2025 until the end of March 2026. This is an in-office post between Monday through Friday (from 9:15am to 6:00pm with flexible hours) to offset the compensation of around $24,000 for the contracted period.

We are looking for an organized team player who can manage a variety of tasks and assume the following responsibilities as Social Media Assistant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n


Responsibilities include:
<\/strong>\u25cfAssist with Japan-related social media postings and perform analyses of the Consulate\u2019s social media accounts
\u25cfSearch online for Japan-related events\/articles to share on Consulate\u2019s SNS accounts
\u25cfCreate informative graphics, edit photos, film and\/or produce videos.
\u25cfResearch and technical support for presentations
\u25cfVarious administrative tasks related to the Consulate\u2019s public relations efforts and cultural events
\u25cfRespond to and follow up with public inquiries by phone and email
\u25cfOther duties as deemed necessary

Qualifications:
<\/strong>\u25cfExcellent writing and communication skills
\u25cfPossesses skills and experience in graphic design
\u25cfKnowledge of and experience with social media platforms (Facebook, X(Twitter), Instagram etc.)
\u25cfKnowledge and experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
\u25cfAt least two years of college education
\u25cfValid working permit
\u25cfFull professional proficiency in English

Ideal Candidate:
<\/strong>\u25cfHas prior experience with public relations or event planning work
\u25cfDemonstrates knowledge of Japanese culture and\/or Japanese work culture
\u25cfPossesses some Japanese language ability (advanced ability is preferred)
\u25cfHas prior work experience in Japan or at a Japanese company
\u25cfIs skilled in photo editing, video editing, and\/or graphic design
\u25cfPossesses basic proficiency in Adobe Elements Suite or equivalent applications
