Position Description:
<\/strong>The Youth and Outreach Program Coordinator will be responsible for the creation and implementation of educational programming for children (K-12) activities and off-site outreach programs (children and adults). This includes children\u2019s activities at our annual festivals, special events, teacher development workshops, Family Fun Days, and our MORY and Summer Tour Plus programs. The position requires a creative, dynamic and hands-on individual. The person must be able to work weekends and evening events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Position Reports to:
<\/strong>Curator of Education<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Specific Responsibilities and Duties:
<\/strong>\u2022 Create and implement museum educational programs for children and families.
\u2022 Coordinate and implement all necessary aspects of programs to ensure success and efficiency (pre-, day-of, and post-program) of set-up and breakdown.
\u2022 Develop, implement, and manage outreach programs for both students and adults.
\u2022 Develop, create, and coordinate children\u2019s (K-12) activities at our annual festivals and special event days, including the supervision of volunteers and managing setup and cleanup.
\u2022 Develop, implement, and oversee the Summer Tour Plus (STP) program activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Supervise daily operations of STP, which also includes training and scheduling of interns and high school volunteers for the STP program.
\u2022 Work with the Curator of Education in developing, creating, preparing and implementing programs for public and private school collaborations and teacher development workshops.
\u2022 Work with Education Staff with managing the organization and inventory of the Education Department\u2019s program supplies and replacement of various educational materials when necessary.
\u2022 Work in conjunction with Curator of Education to develop educational teaching materials and tour program contents
\u2022 Keep accurate monthly attendance and fiscal reports for all children\u2019s programs, STP and MORY program, school collaborations, and outreach programs.
\u2022 And other duties as specified<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
<\/strong>\u2022 A Bachelor\u2019s degree in education, Japanese studies, Asian studies, or related field preferred.
\u2022 Must have knowledge of Japanese language and culture. Experience living or working in Japan a plus.
\u2022 Minimum 2 years experience in teaching and working with children (K-12)
\u2022 Able to work with people of all ages
\u2022 Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, orally and in writing
\u2022 Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, external clients, and the public
\u2022 A self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team player
\u2022 Strong attention to detail and able to work in a fast-pace environment
\u2022 Have personal transportation required for outreach programs
\u2022 Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher)
\u2022 Required to work occasional evenings and weekend events
\u2022 Strong organizational and computer skills
\u2022 Experience working in a museum or cultural institution a plus
\u2022 Experience with audio\/visual presentations<\/p>\n\n\n\n
