Description<\/strong>:
TV TOKYO America has an immediate opening for a new assistant tv news producer in our Washington DC bureau, covering a wide range of issues including US politics, foreign policy, economics, and general-interest stories. This full-time position involves working closely with correspondents from Japan to assist in all aspects of the reporting process. Join us to cover press conferences of U.S. government agencies, international conferences abroad, and the presidential election.

You should have:
<\/strong>
\u30fbFamiliarity and interest in topics related to US domestic politics and foreign policy, East Asian regional affairs, and current events.
\u30fbStrong English communication skills and the ability to quickly digest a lot of information.
\u30fbAbility to work under deadline pressure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

You will be expected to:
<\/strong>
\u30fbAttend regularly-scheduled press briefings\uff08including the White House\uff09, congressional hearings, and panel discussions around DC, taking note of pertinent information and conveying that to correspondents.
\u30fbDo research and fact-checking for breaking news and day-of stories.
\u30fbWork with Japanese correspondents to conceive and develop ideas for long-form feature stories.
\u30fbBook interviews, arrange shoots, and facilitate logistics for domestic and international travel, accompanying camera crews to other locations as necessary.
\u30fbAssist with on-site news production and in-house recording, logging, and editing of video feeds.
\u30fbHave conversational level Japanese language ability.

TV Tokyo is one of Japan’s six television networks and is a broadcasting arm of Nikkei, Inc. a Japanese media company which also owns Japan\u2019s premier daily newspaper The Nikkei, the English-language magazine Nikkei Asia, and the London-based Financial Times. We produce Japan’s only daily business and economic news programs, World Business Satellite and News Morning Satellite. Their combined daily audience averages 6-8 million viewers, including Japanese business leaders and influential politicians. World Business Satellite was recently named “Best News Program” in a poll of 26 leading Japanese companies. Past guests include: Former U.S. Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers; professor Daron Acemoglu (Nobel laureate), professor Simon Johnson (Nobel laureate), professor Joseph Stiglitz (Nobel laureate) and professor Jeffrey Sachs; business leaders Michael Eisner, Steve Forbes, Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, Steve Ballmer, Jeffrey Immelt and Alan Mullaly; former Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida; former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe; and numerous Japanese business and political leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
