The office provides career advising, seminars on job-hunting strategies, and guidance on internships, resume writing, and interviewing techniques. Each student is given comprehensive support to assist in their job hunting and career development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Career Advisor will support students in connecting to internship opportunities and full-time jobs after graduation. The advisor will be responsible for managing the Kyoto-based undergraduate internship program, which is one of the flagship initiatives of the university.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The person who takes this position is based in Kyoto to provide hands-on support at the new campus; however, the work will be focused on supporting all TUJ students., but the majority of the work will be supporting Tokyo students remotely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Primary responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Assist in organizing and executing the TUJ internship program in Kyoto and Tokyo in collaboration with Undergraduate Internship Program Coordinator in Tokyo\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Maintain, expand and develop relations with internship sponsors, with a particular focus on Kyoto<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strategically recruit new internship organizations in Kyoto and Tokyo<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Advise and assist students in finding internships in Kyoto and Tokyo<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Manage extensive email communications with students, internship sponsors, and faculty supervisors<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Organize and present internship information sessions in Kyoto or virtually<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create, edit, and maintain internship information on Canvas and the university portal<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monitor students to ensure they correctly complete the required procedures during the limited application period and provide guidance as needed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create and maintain careful records of internship applications, placements, and evaluations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Communicate with study abroad internship applicants overseas<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide individual career advising, particularly assisting in entry sheet editing for student\u2019s job hunting in Japan\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Plan and prepare for career advising sessions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Navigate students in moving forward with their career search<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assist with application reviews, entry sheet editing, and mock interviews in Japanese and English<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain advising records<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assist with other tasks of the Career Development Office, as instructed by the director (support for career fairs and other events, website updates, student announcements, etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Required Qualifications and Experience:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Japanese<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to accurately edit entry sheets written by native Japanese students<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Minimum three years\u2019 work experience in a business environment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to effectively cultivate relationships with a diverse group of students and various constituencies including students, alumni, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Professional and responsive in email\/phone communication<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Student-centered approach to career advising<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong PC (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database skills and the ability to quickly learn new software and programs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to be detailed oriented, meet tight deadlines, and manage multiple responsibilities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong interpersonal skills, well organized, flexible, and a good team player<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications and Experience:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Project\/program management experience<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience in career coaching on resume writing, interview preparation, career\u00a0exploration, goal setting, and job search strategies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience presenting to large and small groups virtually and in person with a high degree of engagement<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Working knowledge of Japan\u2019s new graduate job hunting system and strategies\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Familiarity with employers in Kyoto and the Kansai region<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Application Process:<\/strong> Review of applications will begin immediately.
