American Councils for International Education is currently hiring 2024 summer Resident Directors for <\/strong>language immersion programs of the <\/strong>Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program<\/strong><\/a>. <\/strong>Funded by the U.S. State Department, the CLS Program is an immersive summer opportunity for American college and university students to learn languages essential to America\u2019s engagement with the world.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Resident Directors (RDs) are the first-level of support for CLS students for the duration of the 8-week program overseas. The RD supports student success by ensuring the health and safety of the participants, helping them to maintain a language policy, and helping to acclimate them to life abroad. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The RD position is a non-teaching position but requires a high level of proficiency in the target language. The approximate dates of the program are June to August; Resident Directors also attend a three-day training in May.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We seek individuals who have demonstrated student support experience for undergraduate and\/or graduate students, or experience leading or supporting a study abroad or language immersion program. Applications review will begin in January, 2024<\/strong> and will be reviewed on a rolling basis until all positions are filled. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
