Highlighting some of the most exciting new voices in cinema, New York Japan CineFest is an annual event that features works by emerging Japanese and Japanese American filmmakers. This two-day program of short live action and animated films includes\u00a0Formal Warrior Suit Ranger<\/em>, about a team of men and women who properly dress for both their occupations and their fight with evil;\u00a0Minidoka<\/em>, about a yonsei<\/em> Seattle-based activist who sees parallels between his own family\u2019s history and the Trump administration\u2019s immigration policies; and\u00a0Mountain Monks<\/em>, about the Yamabushi in northern Japan, who practice a once-forbidden ancient religion.\u00a0The first night\u2019s program is followed by a reception.<\/em><\/p>\n

Donna Burke<\/a> is an Australian singer, actress and lyricist who has lived in Tokyo since 1996.
