The position provides an excellent opportunity to work for a foreign diplomatic mission while gaining insight into international affairs and its relation to the U.S. Congress from a unique inside perspective. Please see below for a detailed list of responsibilities.<\/p>\n<p>The Embassy offers group health insurance coverage, paid vacation and sick leave. Working hours are 9:00 am \u2013 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with lunch time receptionist duty once a month and opportunities for paid overtime by occasionally working at evening and\/or weekend events. Salary is commensurate with experience.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Please note:<\/em><\/strong><em>\u00a0Candidates must be a U.S. citizen or a U.S. green card holder. Screening will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Only successful candidates will be contacted. Successful candidates will be requested to submit their background check information.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Manage calendars and schedule appointments with U.S. Congressional offices as well as various stakeholders while staying abreast of policy priorities in the context of Japan-U.S. relations.<\/li>\n<li>Make necessary arrangements for business meetings, breakfasts, lunches, and dinners, including making reservations and coordinating transportation.<\/li>\n<li>Assist in scheduling appointments and managing logistics for visiting government officials, including members of the Japanese Diet.<\/li>\n<li>Draft, proofread, and edit official documents and correspondence including the Ambassador\u2019s letters and speeches in English, as well as drafting language for the Embassy of Japan\u2019s official social media accounts.<\/li>\n<li>Assist in organizing congressional events, including coordinating with the venue, drafting invitations, managing the guest list and logistics in coordination with diplomatic staff.<\/li>\n<li>Serve as the first point of contact between Embassy of Japan diplomats, visiting government officials and U.S. Congressional offices with the opportunity to network with congressional staffers.<\/li>\n<li>Other responsibilities as needed and appropriate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Required and Preferred Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fluent in English, Japanese ability is a plus<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)<\/li>\n<li>Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment<\/li>\n<li>Ability to perform under strict deadlines<\/li>\n<li>Excellent attention to detail and communications skills (both verbal and written)<\/li>\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s degree or equivalent experience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Application Process:\u00a0<\/strong>E-mail your\u00a0<strong>resume<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>cover letter<\/strong>\u00a0to:\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:application@ws.mofa.go.jp\">application@ws.mofa.go.jp<\/a>\u00a0by\u00a0<strong>Thursday, April 11, 2019<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><em>*Please no phone calls.
