This individual is primarily responsible for managing the schedule and assisting the activities of the Education Attach\u00e9 and the Embassy\u2019s MEXT Scholarship Program. Please see below for a detailed listing of responsibilities. Working hours are 9:00 am \u2013 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with lunch time receptionist duty once a month and occasional weeknight and\/or weekend events (paid overtime). Salary is commensurate with experience and the skills of the candidate. Benefits include group health insurance coverage, paid time off, sick leave and an annual bonus. There is a potential salary increase based on individual performance. The minimum monthly base salary for this position is $3,400 USD.<\/p>\n<p>Please note: Candidates must be either a U.S. citizen or a U.S. green card holder. Screening will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Only successful candidates will be contacted. Successful candidates will be requested to submit background check information.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Handle administrative duties such as making appointments, developing itineraries, answering phone calls from the public and coordinating transportation for diplomats and education-related delegations from the Government of Japan<\/li>\n<li>Assist the Education Attach\u00e9 with research in the field of education<\/li>\n<li>Manage the MEXT Scholarship Program and provide assistance to the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program when necessary<\/li>\n<li>Manage the Embassy of Japan\u2019s School Visit Program<\/li>\n<li>Draft posts for social and digital media about educational topics related to Japan and update the education webpages on the Embassy\u2019s website<\/li>\n<li>Draft speeches, statements, remarks, and correspondence related to education<\/li>\n<li>Other responsibilities as needed and appropriate, including but not limited to: helping plan and organize receptions, events, meetings, and seminars especially as related to education under the direction of the Education Attach\u00e9 or other diplomats in the Public Affairs section and providing internal translations as needed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Required Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s Degree Fluent English speaker<\/li>\n<li>Japanese language skills preferred<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)<\/li>\n<li>Flexibility, resourcefulness and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment<\/li>\n<li>Superior interpersonal and communication skills<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Preferred Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Good understanding of Japanese culture\/experience living or working in Japan<\/li>\n<li>Interest in international education, study abroad, and foreign language education<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>How to Apply:<\/strong> E-mail your resume and cover letter to <a href=\"mailto:education@ws.mofa.go.jp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">education@ws.mofa.go.jp<\/a> by Tuesday, March 12th.
