The position is for its New York Bureau. The successful candidate will work closely with a correspondent covering general news in North America, including breaking news, politics and U.S. society, while also working with the New York bureau chief on long-term research projects and features.<\/p>\n

Founded in 1879,\u00a0The Asahi Shimbun\u00a0is widely recognized as Japan\u2019s leading and most respected national daily broadsheet. It has a circulation of nearly six million copies per day, and is read by a wide segment of the Japanese public.\u00a0 The newspaper is particularly influential among Japan\u2019s government officials, policymakers and academics.\u00a0 It also reaches an English-speaking audience through its English language website.
