The Embassy of Japan is seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented individual for the position of Researcher. This individual is primarily responsible for performing various research functions, including but not limited to, research on the US foreign\/domestic policy issues, attending public political events, assisting activities of diplomats in the Political Section, translating open source information including newspaper articles and public statements issued by the US Government into Japanese, and others. Please see below for a detailed listing of responsibilities.<\/p>\n

The Embassy offers group health insurance coverage, paid vacation and sick leave. Working hours are 9:00 am \u2013 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with lunch time receptionist duty once a month and the occasional weeknight and\/or weekend event (paid overtime). Salary is commensurate with experience. The minimum basic monthly salary for this position is 4,000.00 USD.<\/p>\n

Please note:<\/em><\/strong> Candidates must be a U.S. citizen or a U.S. green card holder. Screening will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Responsibilities: <\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Conduct research about US foreign\/domestic policy issues<\/li>\n
  • Attend public political events\/meetings\/rallies and write memos as well as build networks with relevant participants.<\/li>\n
  • Assist in organizing receptions, cultural events, meetings, and seminars<\/li>\n
  • Following and translating into Japanese major US newspaper articles and public statements issued by White House, the Department of State, the Department of Defense, and others.<\/li>\n
  • Other responsibilities as needed and appropriate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Required and Preferred Qualifications: <\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Fluent in English and Japanese<\/li>\n
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)<\/li>\n
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment<\/li>\n
    • Flexibility and resourcefulness<\/li>\n
    • Bachelor\u2019s degree or equivalent experience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
