{"id":4144,"date":"2009-03-11T16:27:28","date_gmt":"2009-03-11T16:27:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jetwit.com\/wordpress\/?p=4144"},"modified":"2009-03-11T18:33:11","modified_gmt":"2009-03-11T18:33:11","slug":"james-kennedy-librarian-essay-sets-blogosphere-atwitter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jetwit.com\/wordpress\/2009\/03\/11\/james-kennedy-librarian-essay-sets-blogosphere-atwitter\/","title":{"rendered":"James Kennedy &#8220;Librarian&#8221; essay sets blogosphere atwitter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/jameskennedy.com\" target=\"_blank\">James Kennedy&#8217;s<\/a> (Nara-ken, 2004-06)<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/jetwit.com\/wordpress\/2009\/03\/06\/james-kennedy-america-emulate-this-man\/\" target=\"_self\">recent post of his essay<\/a> describing the heretofore unpublicized lifestyles and rituals of librarians (a &#8220;cult&#8221; of which Kennedy&#8217;s own wife is admittedly a member) in connection with the <strong>American Library Association&#8217;s<\/strong> awarding of the &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/ala\/mgrps\/divs\/yalsa\/booklistsawards\/bestbooksya\/09bbya.cfm\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Best Book for Young Adults<\/strong><\/a>&#8221; to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.neilgaiman.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Neil Gaman<\/strong><\/a>, author of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.neilgaiman.com\/works\/Books\/Coraline\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Coraline<\/strong><\/a>, rather than Kennedy&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Order-Odd-Fish-James-Kennedy\/dp\/038573543X\/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&amp;s=books&amp;qid=1217474145&amp;sr=8-1\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>The Order of Odd-Fish<\/strong><\/a>, the blogosphere was atwitter with commentary about Kennedy, who will be appearing in NYC March 22 for the <a href=\"https:\/\/jetwit.com\/wordpress\/2009\/03\/04\/jet-alumni-author-showcase-kelts-kennedy-and-weston-march-22-2\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>JET Alumni Author Showcase<\/strong><\/a> along with <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/japanamerica.blogspot.com\" target=\"_blank\">Roland Kelts<\/a> (Osaka-shi, 1998-99)<\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.zorgamazoo.com\" target=\"_blank\">Robert P. I think that is the ideal way to read James Kennedy: in pairs or groups, so you can exclaim, &#8220;Listen to this!&#8221; and &#8220;Oh. My. God,&#8221; and, repeatedly, &#8220;How did he <em>think<\/em> of that?&#8221; and there is somebody there to agree with you.
