Through these programs,\u00a0the Japan Foundation aims to support and enhance the academic study of Japan at universities, colleges, and various\u00a0institutions in the United States. This position will report to the Program Director of Japanese Studies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Location:<\/strong> New York, NY<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Key Responsibilities:<\/strong><!--more--><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Manage the institutional grant programs in Japanese Studies by processing applications, maintaining program\u00a0files and documents, and communicating with prospective applicants and grantees.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Administer the Japanese Studies Fellowship Program by maintaining the application website, overseeing the\u00a0application and screening process, responding to inquiries, and coordinating awards.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Liaise with the Japan Foundation\u2019s American Advisory Committee, which consists of distinguished scholars from\u00a0various institutions in the United States.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Coordinate logistics for large in-house meetings as well as events at academic conferences by planning venues,\u00a0catering, transportation, audio\/visual equipment, materials, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Create program materials and publications (e.g. newsletters, fliers, and <\/span>webpages<span style=\"color: #000000\">) and assist in the proofreading\u00a0of English documents.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Conduct outreach activities and site visits throughout the U.S. as a representative of the Japan Foundation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Collaborate and correspond with program staff at the Japan Foundation Tokyo Headquarters.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Perform other duties and additional responsibilities as directed.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Required Qualifications:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Bachelor\u2019s degree. Master\u2019s degree or equivalent work experience preferred.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Legal authorization to work in the United States.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Native oral and written English communication skills.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Willingness and ability to travel and attend occasional weekend events (travel is approx. several weeks\/year)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>A strong candidate will also possess:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Superior written and verbal communication skills<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Experience with and\/or interest in international cultural exchange<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Experience with grant management and\/or familiarity with institutions of higher education<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Familiarity with Japan and Japanese language ability<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
