This full-time position involves working closely with correspondents from Japan to assist in all aspects of the reporting process. The ideal applicant is a strong communicator with a positive attitude and flexible mentality. This position involves some late-night and weekend work, as well as occasional travel on short notice. 2-3 years of relevant experience is preferred, but not required.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">You should have:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">A degree in journalism, communications, international relations, East Asian studies, political science, or other relevant fields.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Strong English communication skills and the ability to quickly digest a lot of information.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Ability to work under deadline pressure.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Working proficiency in\u00a0<\/span>Japanese<span style=\"color: #000000\"> language.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Familiarity with topics related to US foreign policy and domestic politics, East Asian regional affairs, and general current events.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><!--more--><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">You will be expected to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Attend <\/span>regularly-scheduled<span style=\"color: #000000\"> press briefings, congressional hearings, and panel discussions, taking note of <\/span>pertinent<span style=\"color: #000000\"> information and conveying that to correspondents.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Do research and fact-checking for breaking news and day-of stories.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Work with correspondents to conceive and develop ideas for long-form feature stories.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Book interviews, arrange shoots, and facilitate logistics for domestic and international travel, accompanying camera crews to other locations as necessary.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Assist with on-site news production and in-house recording, logging, and editing of video feeds.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Compile and prioritize information on daily, weekly, and long-range news events in <\/span>coverage<span style=\"color: #000000\"> area.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">TBS is one of the oldest and largest <\/span>television<span style=\"color: #000000\"> and radio broadcasting networks in Japan and broadcasts nationally via 28 affiliate stations.
