{"id":40137,"date":"2016-08-02T23:01:00","date_gmt":"2016-08-03T03:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jetwit.com\/wordpress\/?p=40137"},"modified":"2016-08-02T23:01:00","modified_gmt":"2016-08-03T03:01:00","slug":"job-regional-lead-east-asia-pacific-institute-of-international-education-washington-dc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jetwit.com\/wordpress\/2016\/08\/02\/job-regional-lead-east-asia-pacific-institute-of-international-education-washington-dc\/","title":{"rendered":"Job: Regional Lead, East Asia Pacific &#8211; Institute of International Education (Washington, DC)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><em>Posted by\u00a0<strong>Sydney Sparrow<\/strong>, an ALT currently living in Toyota City<\/em><em>.\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"https:\/\/groups.google.com\/forum\/?hl=en&amp;fromgroups#%21forum\/jetwitjobs\" target=\"_blank\">Click here<\/a><\/span>\u00a0to join\u00a0the\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"https:\/\/groups.google.com\/forum\/?hl=en&amp;fromgroups#%21forum\/jetwitjobs\" target=\"_blank\">JETwit Jobs Google Group<\/a><\/span>\u00a0and receive job listings\u00a0even sooner\u00a0by email.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b>Position:\u00a0<\/b><em>Regional Lead, East Asia Pacific<\/em><br \/>\n<b>Posted by:\u00a0<\/b><em>Institute of International Education<\/em><br \/>\n<b>Location:\u00a0<\/b><em>Washington, DC<\/em><br \/>\n<b>Contract:\u00a0<\/b><i>Full-Time<\/i><\/p>\n<p>The Regional Lead administers Fulbright programs for U.S. scholars traveling to the East Asia Pacific region. \u00a0S\/he serves as a primary point of contact with IIE\u2019s sponsor, manages a budget of approximately $1.75 million and junior team members for the assigned region. \u00a0Work is carried out independently under general supervision.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Essential Duties and Responsibilities: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Program Development:<\/em>\n<ul>\n<li>Accountable for recruitment strategy implementation for assigned region. \u00a0Recruit potential Fulbright scholars for assigned portfolio.<\/li>\n<li>Serve as key point of contact for program sponsor, grantees and Fulbright Commissions and U.S. Embassies for assigned region. \u00a0Receive and analyze requests; recommend course of action; manage expectations and resulting workflows.<\/li>\n<li>Manage all aspects of the grant administration cycle; ensure successful selection, placement, and overall progress of grantees within assigned portfolio.<\/li>\n<li>Represent IIE with various external parties.<\/li>\n<li>Draft and review program reports.<\/li>\n<li>Lead program training efforts for new team members.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><em>Program Management:<\/em>\n<ul>\n<li>Oversee delivery of programs and services.<\/li>\n<li>Receive and analyze requests from ECA, commissions and posts; recommend course of action; manage expectations and resulting workflows.<\/li>\n<li>Provide tactical and strategic input to drive innovation and program efficiencies.<\/li>\n<li>Represent IIE to external parties.<\/li>\n<li>Develop RFPs, proposals, scopes of work, and ECA deliverable reports.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><em>Financial Management:<\/em>\n<ul>\n<li>Manage regional program budget (annual portfolio size of $1.75 million) and program budget coordination, reconciliation and use of fund balances with Visiting Scholar team.<\/li>\n<li>Review and approve payments and expense reports.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Responsible for complying with applicable contract and sponsor requirements and following all IIE policies and procedures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><em>People Management:<\/em>\n<ul>\n<li>Manage two team members.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with Director of U.S. Scholar Program to lead team through organizational change, clearly communicating roles, responsibilities and overall structure while ensuring concurrent, high-quality service delivery.<\/li>\n<li>Prioritize, organize, distribute, and coordinate the flow of work. Assess workload based on priorities and level of complexity.<\/li>\n<li>Approves performance appraisals and compensation decisions for staff in the unit, and conducts performance appraisals and makes compensation decisions for subordinate staff.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure that prescribed policies, procedures, and schedules are followed.<\/li>\n<li>Guide individual performance via timely feedback and support. Make recommendations concerning employment, termination, performance evaluations, salary actions, and other personnel actions.<\/li>\n<li>Train team on all policy and program updates.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Education\/Experience: \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s degree required. Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, International Relations, or not-for-profit management a plus.<\/li>\n<li>Minimum five to seven years of program management experience and at least four years relevant experience in international higher education exchange programs.<\/li>\n<li>At least two years of supervisory experience required<\/li>\n<li>Experience working on a scholarship program or grant management in order to understand the program lifecycle and to drive efficient operations.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with developing systems, processes, and procedures in order to achieve high quality output.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to communicate, negotiate, advise, and persuade on matters that are highly complex and sensitive in nature. \u00a0Ability to communicate effectively with persons on all levels both inside and outside the organization.<\/li>\n<li>Proven ability to administer complex programs.<\/li>\n<li>In-depth knowledge of current sponsor standards and guidelines.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent critical thinking skills and judgment.<\/li>\n<li>Strong written communication skills, including demonstrated ability to write required documents in a clear, concise, well-organized manner.<\/li>\n<li>Awareness, sensitivity, and understanding of cross-cultural issues.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work effectively in an atmosphere of multiple projects, shifting priorities, and deadline pressure.
