June marks the official start of summer and with it, many new JETs anxiously awaiting more information about coming to Japan in either July or August. In addition to regular JETAA community events, this chapter beat will feature the first batch of pre-departure orientations\/events where many JETAA chapters are looking for volunteers to help usher in the\u00a0new JETs of 2016.<\/p>\n

It’s that time of the year for the annual Walk for Rice! For those unfamiliar with the event, the PNW JETAA forms a team to raise money to fight hunger in the community. It\u2019s that time of year when we prepare a new batch of JETs to start their journey in Japan! We are calling upon our recent alumni to teach and share their experiences to hopefully prevent some surprises or embarrassing moments and make their time in Japan something they will never forget.<\/p>\n

The Pre-Departure Seminar will be on\u00a0Saturday, June 25th from 10:00 am \u2013 3:30pm at the Nippon Club<\/strong>\u00a0(145 W. 57th Street, between 6th Ave and 7th Ave on the 2nd floor). We\u2019ll have a happy hour from 4 pm onwards nearby which all are welcome to (no need to be a seminar presenter)! You only need to attend the sessions you are presenting, therefore you may not need to be there the entire day.<\/p>\n
