Carnegie Mellon University invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of the Office of International Education. Carnegie Mellon is a highly selective private research university with a distinctive mix of programs in business, computer science, engineering, fine arts, humanities and social sciences, public policy, and the sciences. More than 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students and 4,000 faculty and staff are members of the university community, with a shared commitment to intellectual and artistic excellence, personal and professional welfare, and real world impact.Reporting to the Dean of Student Affairs, the Director of the Office of International Education (OIE) has a strong foundation in student development and is highly committed to service provision in a cross-cultural setting. Leading a team of ten staff members, the Director provides leadership in the study abroad and foreign student and scholar services arenas, sending 250+ students abroad and serving 3500+ foreign students and scholars annually.<\/p>\n

The Director is responsible for institutional obligations regarding regulatory compliance and oversees and implements F, J, H and legal permanent residency policy, practice and compliance. The Director leads and participates in university forums related to international education issues, services, and globalization, and keeps abreast of national and international trends that impact foreign students and scholars and study abroad participants for the sake of informing office practice and University decision-makers including the president, deans and associate deans, department heads, and administration.
\nThe ideal candidate for this position will possess an appropriate advanced degree and significant experience in an international field within higher education. S\/he will have demonstrated leadership skills, excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills, strong service orientation and a commitment to developing collaborative relationships and serving as a key resource for the entire campus community on a variety of foreign student and scholar matters.<\/p>\n
