An all round education focuses on equipping the girls with all the life skills required of women in the 21st century. Within a caring and supportive framework, the girls enjoy a dynamic academic curriculum, supported by a diverse and exciting co-curricular program.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">We are looking for someone who can teach Japanese either full-time or part-time across all year groups up to and including Advanced Level dependent on experience and qualifications. Class size in Japanese lessons at Queenswood usually ranges between 5-10 students per year group. Currently there are 4 girls in Year 8, 10 girls in Year 9 and 5 girls in Year 10. As for the exam groups, there are currently 10 girls studying Japanese in Year 11 (4 of whom are following the Short Course), 5 girls in the L6 and one pupil in the U6 who is also applying to study Japanese at degree level.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">The successful candidate will be a dynamic, experienced teacher of Japanese and ideally qualified, capable of enthusing students and maintaining the successful profile of the Japanese department. He or she will have the ability to administer the GCSE Japanese Speaking Paper and should be keen to provide additional speaking practice outside the standard timetable in the lead up to the examination period.\u00a0Candidates will possess a wider understanding and passion for Japanese culture and the language. For full-time applicants, an ability to deliver lessons that meet the standards and course requirements defined by the A level specification is paramount. Please detail in writing the hours and\/or level of Japanese teaching experience in your application.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Queenswood is primarily a boarding school but we welcome day boarders as well. The successful applicant would be prepared to take on additional responsibilities and duties beyond their classroom role and to take a full part in the life of the school.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">This is a temporary position to cover maternity leave.<!--more--><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Good honours degree in Japanese or nationally recognised qualification in Japanese, or native-level speaker of Japanese.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Suitable for someone with some experience of teaching either privately or in a class situation, or a new entrant to the profession.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Communication of grammatical concepts particular to the Japanese language in an articulate and interesting manner;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Ability to convey the script elements of the language (both Kana and Kanji) in an accessible and motivating fashion; <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Ability to use a range of teaching strategies to enthuse the full range of abilities; <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Understanding of the interests and concerns of children; <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Good time management and organisation skills.
