The program places highly qualified teachers in paid professional positions at projects initiated by U.S. embassies in all regions of the world. Fellows improve English language education abroad and contribute to cross-cultural awareness throughout the world. Assignments are for a 10-month period typically beginning in September 2016.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">As a premier, competitive opportunity to work on TESL\/TEFL projects in developing countries, the program has an impact not only on the institutions that host Fellows but also on the Fellows themselves. It is an opportunity for ESL teachers to enhance their professional careers and build their professional portfolio.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">The English Language Fellow Program is funded by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Approximately 100 positions are available for the 2016-2017 academic year. The priority deadline is\u00a0<strong><span class=\"aBn\"><span class=\"aQJ\">November 30, 2015<\/span><\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><!--more--><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility:\u00a0<\/strong>To apply to the program, applicants must demonstrate<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">U.S. Citizenship<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Graduate level degree in TESOL, applied linguistics, or a field related to English language teaching<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Two years\u2019 classroom TESOL (ESL and\/or EFL)\u00a0teaching experience*<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Applicants with a graduate level degree in an unrelated field are eligible to apply if they also have a recognized TESOL certification and 120 contact hours, including supervised practicum, or a valid, full state teacher certificate, credential, or licensure with a specialization or an endorsement in ESL or the equivalent.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">The qualifying degree must be conferred by the end of the spring 2016 semester to be eligible for regular cycle projects and by the end of the summer 2016 semester for off-cycle projects.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">If a non-U.S. institution awarded a qualifying degree, it must be evaluated by an educational credential evaluation service.
