Key goals of the Alfa Fellowship Program are expanding networks of American, British, and German professionals, developing greater intercultural understanding, and advancing knowledge of Russian affairs in the West.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Alfa Fellowship Program begins with language training in the Fellow\u2019s geographic location followed by a language course in Moscow starting in mid-June. Throughout the summer, Alfa Fellows attend a seminar program with key public and private sector officials to discuss current issues facing Russia. Fellows then work at prominent organizations in Russia, including private companies, media outlets, think tanks, and foundations.<\/p>\n<p>Eligible candidates must have a graduate degree and professional experience in business, economics, journalism, law, public policy, or a related field. Russian language proficiency is not required, but is preferred. The Fellowship includes a generous monthly stipend, language training, program-related travel costs, housing and insurance.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Program Benefits:\u00a0<\/strong>The Alfa Fellowship Program includes the following provisions:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Round-trip transportation to New York City, London or Berlin and accommodation (if needed) for selection interviews<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">U.S.\/U.K.\/Germany-based language training as required based on proficiency evaluation<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Orientation seminar in Washington, D.C., including speakers, activities, travel, and accommodation<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Program-related transportation between U.S.\/U.K.\/Germany and Russia<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Russia-based language training<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Moscow Seminar Program, including meetings, briefings, assignment planning, and excursions<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">A generous monthly stipend during the program in Russia<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">All program-related travel within Russia<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Accommodation in Russia<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Limited international health, accident, and liability insurance during the program in Russia<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><!--more--><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"black12\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Eligibility Requirements:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"black12\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">U.S., U.K., or German citizen between the ages of 25 and 35<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"black12\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Graduate degree and professional experience in business, economics, journalism, law, government or public policy. Candidates without a graduate degree must demonstrate extensive and equivalent professional experience in their field.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Desired Qualifications:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Outstanding professional achievement and academic qualifications<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Active involvement in community or public service<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Evidence of leadership potential<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Russian language experience is preferred, however not required, at the time of application. The statement must also include realistic proposals for specific institutions you believe would be appropriate for your professional assignment.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Russian writing sample (one-page maximum,\u00a0in Russian) on a topic of your choice.
