Expertise in over-the-top Zappos-style customer service is a huge plus.\u00a0The position requires an obsessive attention to the smallest details, and the ability to think well outside the box. It is painstaking work that requires a ninja-like, almost superhuman ability to focus on tiny details.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>WHAT TO EXPECT.\u00a0<\/strong>You\u2019ll spend the first few weeks with us learning about our business, beginning to master all of your tasks and responsibilities, and providing our customers and suppliers with amazing service.\u00a0After you have mastered these skills you will embark on the greater mission: finding and developing ways to improve our systems and processes, so they are more efficient, easier to execute, and \u2013 most importantly \u2013 increasingly better for our clients.\u00a0A huge part of your job will be to continually discover and fix operational weaknesses, and you must have a proven track record of being able to manage yourself.\u00a0Even if you have no travel industry experience at all, if you have relevant experience and can convince us that you are perfect for this job, we want to hear from you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES.<\/strong> Here is a sampling of the\u00a0<em>types<\/em>\u00a0of tasks and responsibilities you\u2019ll be in charge of.\u00a0If these tasks don\u2019t make sense to you yet, don\u2019t worry.\u00a0There is a\u00a0<em>lot<\/em>\u00a0of room for growth in this position, and depending on your skills and the circumstances, you will probably also have the opportunity to work in other areas of our business \u2013 one of the many pluses of joining a small and dynamic team.\u00a0After joining our team, you\u2019ll be trained in a broad range of skills, including the following and more:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Preparing, revising and proofreading detailed trip itineraries (in our business, the details are everything)<\/li>\n<li>Helping our clients enjoy memorable and stress-free travels by arming them with important trip details, essential pre-departure information, and answering pre-trip questions<\/li>\n<li>Communicating extensively with suppliers (e.g., hotels, guides, etc.) to coordinate services<\/li>\n<li>Staying on top of continually evolving client support tasks, and ensuring nothing falls through the cracks<\/li>\n<li>Following detailed SOPs (standard operating procedures) to complete tasks with total accuracy \u2013 and, most importantly, updating SOPs as processes evolve<\/li>\n<li>Identifying and fixing operational weaknesses so that our systems and processes continually evolve to be more efficient, easier to execute, and increasingly better for our clients<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>IMPORTANT DETAILS.\u00a0<\/b>Expertise in the following is a plus but not required:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Asana and\/or Trello<\/li>\n<li>Google Apps<\/li>\n<li>SOPs<\/li>\n<li>Spreadsheets<\/li>\n<li>Zapier<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is not an easy job, and you will be working full time. But you won\u2019t be working from a cubicle (unless cubicles are your thing), because the position is remote, i.e., location-independent.<\/p>\n<p><strong>YOUR LOCATION.\u00a0<\/strong>With a headquarters in California, our company is US-based but location-independent, which means that you can work from almost anywhere in the world you please \u2013 provided you have infallible Internet.\u00a0Don\u2019t think this means you\u2019ll be on vacation: whether you\u2019re working from Tokyo, Perth, Barcelona or elsewhere, you will be working hard and tackling difficult but invigorating challenges.\u00a0It will be up to you where to set up base.\u00a0As a close-knit team, we will speak often by Skype, Slack and email \u2013 and meet in person when possible. But if you have a feeling that working remotely might not work for you, you may be right. Many people prefer the structure and interaction of in-person office positions, and remote work can be lonely and challenging \u2013 it\u2019s definitely not for everyone.<\/p>\n<p><strong>YOUR SCHEDULE.\u00a0<\/strong>This is a full-time job with a fairly flexible schedule.\u00a0We are extremely results oriented, and while we will provide a lot of guidance and support (we want you to succeed!), you must have a proven track record of being able to successfully manage yourself.\u00a0While we are generally not as concerned about\u00a0<em>which<\/em>\u00a0hours you work (you won\u2019t be clocking in and out), you will have daily, weekly and other regular deliverables that must be completed on time.\u00a0You will also need to coordinate your schedule to speak in real time with the rest of the team (via Skype and Slack), which \u2013 depending on your location \u2013 may require flexible time zone coordination on your part.
